AND JAPAN STRIVE TO BOOST ECONOMIC COOPERATION
Astana, May 3: Astana and Tokyo take a step forward in expanding bilateral
relations by signing a total of six documents on enhancing economic cooperation
as well as a Road Map, which involves 40 industrial projects in the
Kazakhstan economy’s priority sectors, including the nuclear and petrochemical
industries,mining and metallurgical complex, and high technologies.

Tokyo, May 2: Embassy of Kazakhstan in Japan from May 1 started broadcasting two videos
on Kazakhstan on displays of Haneda Tokyo International Airport.
30-second videos introduce Kazakhstan’s vast natural landscapes, modern districts
in the capital Astana and message of peace toward the future.

GARDEN WITH MAGNIFICENT MOUNTAINS OPENED IN TOKYO
Tokyo, May 1: At the
World Gardening Fair, the spouses of ambassadors from 10 countries accredited in
Japan created their original horticultural compositions in the Hotel Okura Tokyo.
Spouse of Ambassador of Kazakhstan Mme. Olga Kamaldinova created her composition based on
the environment of Zhetysu region, one of the beautiful places in Kazakhstan, which
occupies the South-East of the country.

Tokyo, April 28: Embassy of Kazakhstan in Japan in cooperation with Min-On Concert Association held a special concert of young and talented
musicians of Zhurgenov Kazakh
National Academy of Arts dedicated
to the 20th Anniversary
of establishing diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Japan. The concert
was hosted on April 25 at the Hall of Classic Pianos and Harpsicords of Min-On
Culture Center.

the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Japan Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts
visited Tokyo on April 23-27 to establish a cooperative relationship with
leading Japanese Universities in the sphere of arts.

A CUP OF FOREIGN MINISTER OF JAPAN
Tokyo, April 23: Batyrkhan Kurmanseit, Counsellor of Embassy of Kazakhstan in Japan, on April 22 won a Cup
of Foreign Minister of Japan, the top prize in the annual Japanese language speech
contest among foreign diplomats accredited in Tokyo.

NAZARBAYEV REPORTS ON PROGRESS, CALLS FOR BOLDER ACTIONS
Seoul, March 27:
Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev reaffirmed his country’s strong
commitment to strengthening the international nuclear security framework and
called for bolder actions of the international community in the nuclear field
while addressing the participants of the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul
on March 27.

Astana, March 20: Twenty
years ago, Kazakhstan impressed the world with its decision to close down the
nuclear test site and remove all the nuclear weapons. To present day, the
country remains committed to the global process of non-proliferation and

international organisations, to urge the world do the same.

Astana, February 28:
The international community, with the UN at the forefront, should keep human
rights and disarmament at the top of its agenda, while Kazakhstan stands ready
to help in every way it can. Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov delivered this
message as he spoke at the meetings of the UN Human Rights Council and the
Disarmament Conference in Geneva on February 27 and 28.

SEEKS TO UNITE EFFORTS IN SEARCH FOR ANTI-CRISIS SOLUTIONS

16: A
new communication platform, created at the initiative of President of
Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in January this year, has brought together more
than 500,000 visitors from 128 countries of the world, including more than
6,000 regular visitors, in their search to find ways out of the global economic

THREE PARTIES TO MAKE UP KAZAKHSTAN’S NEW
PARLIAMENT
Astana, January 17: On January 16, the Central Election
Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan announced final results of the election to the
lower chamber of the country’s Parliament, Majilis, held on Sunday Jan. 15.
According to the CEC, the Nur Otan Party
received 80.99%, Ak Zhol 7.47%, the Communist People’s Party of Kazakhstan
(CPPK) 7.19%, All-National Social Democratic Party (ASDP) 1.68%, Auyl 1.19%,
the Party of Patriots 0.83%, and Adilet 0.66%.

KAZAKHSTAN: 20 YEARS OF PEACE, PROGRESS AND PROSPERITY
Tokyo, December 14: In celebration of the 20th
anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Japan has
been broadcasting videos in Tokyo on large-scale displays at the busiest intersections,
from December 10 through December 24.
Titled “Kazakhstan: 20 Years of Peace, Progress and Prosperity,”
the video runs about 30 seconds and introduces the vast country’s natural
landscapes, modern buildings in the newly constructed capital Astana and
message of peace toward the future.

TO HOST 2017 WINTER UNIVERSIADE
Astana, December 2:
The International University Sports Federation (FISU) Executive Committee
awarded the 2017 Winter Universiade to Almaty on November 29. The city remained
the only bidding candidate for the 2017 Winter Universiade with Trentino
withdrawing last week due to the economic situation in Italy.

FORUM FOR A NUCLEAR-WEAPON-FREE WORLD BECOMES A VALUABLE STEP TOWARDS A SAFER

Astana, October 14: Today nuclear security issues play an important role
in world politics, and the International Forum for a Nuclear Weapon-Free World,
held in Astana and Semey on October 12 and 13, turned into a decisive step of
combining efforts of policy makers and the general public towards the
elimination of the nuclear threat.

OF KAZAKHSTAN OUTLINE VISION OF NUCLEAR-WEAPONS-FREE WORLD
Astana, October 11: Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United
Nations in Kazakhstan, the Nevada-Semey Anti-Nuclear Movement and the Civic
Alliance of Kazakhstan announced the winners of the National Student Art and
Essay Contest which explored the topic “A World Free from Nuclear Weapons” to
mark the 20th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk test
site.
The official award ceremony took place on October 11,
ahead of the International Forum for a Nuclear Weapons Free World opening
tomorrow. It was attended by Kairat Umarov, Deputy Foreign Minister, Vladimir
Shkolnik, President of the Kazatomprom National Atomic Company, Tomihisa Taue,
Mayor of the Japanese city of Nagasaki, Chiyoko
Motomura, Japanese atomic bomb survivor, Stephen
