VI ASTANA ECONOMIC FORUM TAKES PLACE
Astana, May 26: The VI Astana Economic Forum took place this week under the title “Ensuring Balanced Economic Growth within the G-Global Format”. This is an indication of the strength which the G-Global online platform has achieved since it was set up by President Nazarbayev in December 2011. Another first for the Forum was that the World Anti-Crisis Conference, another initiative of President Nazarbayev, ran alongside the Forum. This ensured that many of the world’s leading experts in a variety of fields were among the 10,000 delegates who came to Astana.

KAZAKHSTAN CELEBRATES DAY OF NATIONAL UNITY
Astana, May 3: On May 1, Kazakhstan celebrated the Day of the Unity of the Peoples of Kazakhstan, a day for strengthening the ties which bind together all the diff erent nationalities and all the diff erent ethnic groups and confessions in Kazakhstan.

PRESIDENT NAZARBAYEV CHAIRS 20TH SESSION
OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE PEOPLE OF KAZAKHSTAN
Astana, April 29: On April 24 President Nursultan Nazarbayev chaired the 20th session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.The Assembly is a living example of the ethnic diversity and tolerance of the people of Kazakhstan. It was created by President Nazarbayev on March 1 1995 to bring together in harmony and mutual understanding the different ethnic, religious, social and cultural groups which exist in Kazakhstan. A session is held at least once a year.

MINEX CENTRAL ASIA 2013
Astana, April 19: For the fourth year in a row, the world’s leading experts on mining and mineral exploration in the Central Asian region gathered this week in Astana for “MINEX Central Asia”. Building on the experience of the first three years, “MINEX Central Asia” now operates successfully to a tried and tested formula: a two day conference; regional investment sessions; an on-site exhibition; and pre-forum Master Classes aimed at mining professionals.

“KAZAKHSTAN-2050: EDUCATION-SCIENCE-INNOVATION”
Astana, April 12: The future of education and science in Kazakhstan was high on the agenda this week, as the country marked “Scientists’ Day” on April 12. A week of seminars and round tables was organized in Astana and Almaty to highlight the development of education and science in Kazakhstan and to strengthen Kazakhstan’s international relations in this sphere.

KAZAKHSTAN HOSTS IRAN NUCLEAR TALKS
Astana, April 5: For the second time in six weeks, Almaty has hosted the continuing talks on the future of Iran’s nuclear program. The very fact that this round of talks followed on so swiftly from the previous round, held in Almaty on February 26-27, is a positive sign. The first three rounds of talks, held between April and June 2012 in Istanbul, Baghdad and Moscow, ended in stalemate. It was regarded as a frustrating, and, indeed, worrying sign by the international community that it took eight months to get everyone round the table again.

GOVERNMENT DISCUSSES BUSINESS ROAD-MAP
Astana, March 22: E-government and healthcare were on the government’s agenda at its March 19 meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister,Serik Akhmetov. “E-government” – accessing government services and making payments on the internet – is the way of the future. The Minister
of Transport and Communication, Askar Zhumagaliev, the Minister of Education and Science,Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Kalmukhanbet Kassymov, addressed the meeting on the state program, “Information Kazakhstan-2020”.

SIXTH ASTANA ECONOMIC FORUM, MAY 2013
Astana, March 8: The Sixth Astana Economic Forum will take place in Kazakhstan’s capital from May 22-24 2013. The Forum is now an established event in the international calendar, alongside the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and the St Petersburg Economic Forum in Russia.

KAZAKHSTAN'S ECONOMIC STRATEGY
Astana, February 15: On February 8, Yerbolat Dossayev, Minister of Economy and Budget Planning, addressed a meeting of his Ministry’s Collegium attended by Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov. The first part of his speech analyzed the economic performance of the country over
the previous year. The second part summarized the measures undertaken to implement the tasks set out in President Nazarbayev’s National Address of December 2012.

Astana, January 25: On January 22 Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov chaired a special session of Government dedicated to the work underway to improve Kazakhstan’s position in the World Bank’s ranking of countries for ease of doing business.

EXPO-2017-GOVERNMENT
APPROVES NATIONAL PLAN
Astana, January18: Preparations for the hosting of EXPO-17 in Astana are advancing according to plan, the Government of Kazakhstan heard at a special session on January 15, when the Minister for Economic Trade and Development, Erbolat Dossayev,presented a draft National Plan for the organization
and production of the international exhibition.
